The order to learn times tables
Most children learn the 2, 5 and 10 tables first, then 3, 4 and 8, then 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12. Each step builds on the one before: the 4 table is the 2 table doubled, and the 8 table is the 4 table doubled.
Use one table until every card is answered quickly, then move on. Come back to the mixed sets every week or so to keep the earlier tables fresh.
Printing the cards
- Open a set and download the PDF.
- Print double-sided and choose "flip on long edge".
- Cut once down the middle, then across the rows. Each answer is on the back of its own card.
